The ” Captives ” in Jesus Today

From yesterday in Luke 4: 18 – 21; Sin not only impoverishes, but imprisons “ the Captives “. Ah! You have only to referred to your own experience to find out what that means. The Bible says in Galatians 3: 22 But Scripture has locked up everything under the control of sin, so that what was promised being given through faith in Jesus Christ, might be given to those who believe.

Is there nothing in the set of our afflictions, in the mastery that your passion has over you, in the habits of your lives, which you know as well as God knows it, to be wrong and ruinous, and of which you have tried to get rid?

I know the answer, and every one of us. If we will look into our own hearts, knows it; we are ” tied and bound by the claims of our sin. ” You do not need to go to inebriate homes, where the are people who would cut their right hand off it they could get rid of the craving, and cannot to find instances of this bondage: Lamentations 1: 14My sins have been bound into a yoke by my hands they were woven together. They have been hung on my neck, and the Lord has sapped my strength. He has given me into the hands of those I cannot withstand.

We have only to be honest with ourselves, and to try to pull the boat against the stream instead of letting it drift with it, to know the force with which the current runs: Hebrews 4: 12 For the Word of God ( Jesus Christ ) is living and active; Sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of Soul and of Spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. ” –

Unfortunately, little by little, drop by drop, we draw to ourselves, by imperceptible degrees, an ever-thickening set of manacles ( handcuff ) that bind our wills and makes us: Servant of sin. ” His slaves you are whom you obey ” – Sin imprisons. That is your sin – Do not let us befoot ourselves with abstraction – Your sin imprisons you. Let us therefore supplicate our Glorious & Merciful Dearest Father, to grant us His ” faith ” for us to stand unmoved in this ” fragmented World ” against sin.

” God, be Lord of my life today. Have total and complete control of me and my life. Take my heart for your own. “
