Repentance: To Stimulate Divine Healing!

jesus heal” Now that was the Sabbath. So the Jews kept saying to the man who had been healed ( getting well ) ” It is the Sabbath, and you are not permitted to pick up your pallet ( a bed or mattress of straw ) because it is unlawful. ” He answered them, ” The man who healed me and gave me back my strength was the One who said to me,Pick up your pallet and walk. ” They asked him, ” Who is the man who told you, Pick up your pallet and walk? ” Now the man who had been healed did not know who it was, for Jesus had slipped ( to move, flow, pass or go smoothly ) away unnoticed since there was a crow in that place. Afterward, Jesus found him in the Temple and said to him, ” See you are well! Stop sinning or something worse may happen to you.” The man went away and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had made him well. For this reason the Jews began to persecute Jesus continually because He was doing these things on the Sabbath. But Jesus answered them, “ My Father has been working until now. He has never ceased working, and I too am working. ” This made the Jews more determined than ever to kill Him, for not only was He breaking the Sabbath, from their viewpoint, but He was also calling God His own Father, making Himself equal with God. ” John 5: 10 – 18.

Please keep on reading the Bible. Because this is Life!!!

Joshua 1: 8 Study this Book of instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.”

There are several clear lessons for the followers found in this passage:

  • God’s grace, God can work miracles without any bit of merit, earning, or deserving on our part;
  • Outward blessing, can accompany, the man at the pool of Betheseda is healed outwardly, but apparently is never healed inwardly, because he shows no evidence of repentance when Jesus calls him to it;
  • Jesus expects repentance ( verse 14 ). It is possible to repent and turn from our sins. We can change and improve; even if we don’t become perfect in this life;
  • God awareness ( verses 16 – 18 ). Some people, like Pharisees, are so obsessed with their rules that they miss any miracle.

The story is about “ healing “. Even if you aren’t suffering from a chronic physical ailment like the man at the pool, we all need healing in order to enjoy  fully our ” gift ” of Salvation from now on.
