The transfiguration is a prophetic glimpse of the Glory that awaits Jesus at His resurrection ( Luke 24: 26 ), and all the followers, at any moment a “ lost sinner ” repents of his sins and trusts Jesus as the only One who can save him from the eternal judgment of his sins – For the follower there is a spiritual change in “ kind & state “. The follower become a ” new creature ” fitted for the Kingdom of God ( John 3: 5 ).
To – day is call is significant because it was the glorification of the physical body of Jesus. Those with Him saw Jesus in His Glory. The appearance of Moses and Elijah testified that Jesus was the One whom the Law and prophets spoke. The approving TESTIMONY of God the Father further confirmed the identity of Jesus – “...The Lord said to me, You are my Son. Today I have become your Father. ” Psalm 2: 7.
In the transfiguration of Jesus we have various elements of the coming Kingdom ( or rule, or realm ) represented:
- there is the glorified King – Matthew 17: 2 ” …Jesus appearance was transformed so that his face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as light. “;
- those who will come into the Kingdom through death – 1 Corinthians 15: 50 – 53 ” …For our dying bodies must be transformed into bodies that will never die; our mortal bodies must be transformed into immortal bodies. “;
- those who will come into the Kingdom ( Jews & others ) in their earthly bodies at the rapture of the Church – Isaiah 11: 10 – 12 ” ….He will raise a flag among the nations and assemble the exiles of Israel. He will gather the scattered people of Judah from the ends of the earth. “
