He wanted them to remember their previous condition before their “ conversion“, to provoke gratitude to God who brought them near ” the blood of Christ “. In that context he said: “ Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers ( one who is strange, foreign, or unknown specifically ) and foreigners ( one not native in the country or jurisdiction under consideration… ), but fellow citizens ( one who enjoys the freedom and privileges of a city ) with the saints and members of the Household of God ” ( Ephesians 2: 19).
