The Christian’s duty as an expression of his Salvation could be summarized as follow:
- he must be mentally prepare to serve;
- he must be self-controlled and sober in daily life;
- he must be hopeful and expectant future grace;
- he must be your obedient child.
However, we are going to emphasized in his “ OBEDIENCE ” this morning in the light of the revelation in
1 Peter1: 14 ” As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: “
Christians are expected to obey the Word of God. We can quote a verse from Leviticus 11: 44 ” For I am the Lord your God: you shall therefore sanctify yourselves, and you shall be holy; for I am holy: neither shall you defile yourselves with any manner of creeping thing that creeped upon the earth. ” – If we are going to be obedient children, we must be Christians who love the Word of God, read the Word of God, obey the Word of God, and preach the Word of God. Jesus said in
Mark1: 38 ” And he said unto them, let us go into the next towns, that I may preach there also: for THEREFORE CAME I FORTH. “
The apostle Peter is just try to recalled Christians to keep in mind that their new status as ” sons of God” induced them to Spiritual milk, so that by it they may grow up in their privilege gift – Salvation.
1 Peter2: 2 ” As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that you may grow thereby. “.
He calls us to desire and eat the WORD of God just like a baby craves his mother’s milk. As we grow in the Spirit, the Word must become our ” standard of life “, and our saturation ( everything must be assess to the light of the Word ) – the continuous renewal of our mind & acting through the word, must transformed us to a ” living Epistle “: This is a normal Christian life.
