In the midst of a world filled with uneasiness and insecurity, assurance of a person’s security in God is one of the symbols of the authentic Christian life. Such assurance is not based on human resources, abilities, or ingenuity, but on confidence in the caring power of God for believers.” But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on them that fear Him, and His righteousness to Children’s children ” – Psalm 103: 17. There never was a period in the past when it was not the purpose of God to save his people, there never will be a period in the future, when it will be said that his saving mercy has ceased.
It would be difficult to think of a statement which would at the same time, in so few words, confirm at once the doctrine of the Divine decrees, and the doctrine of the perseverance of Saints. The problem with these people is that they are not very accomplished at separating what is wrong. There has been some sort of lapse in their progress in this gymnastic ability. They ought to be morally, alert, sharp, discerning, and discriminating in their battle with sin and evil. But they aren’t. Their discerning faculty seems to have lost its edge. Hebrews 6: 12 ” We do not want you to become lazy, but to be like those who believe, and are patient, and so receive what God has promised. ”
Therefore, this Scripture allowed us to see that there three steps in the process of the perseverance of the Saints: Be imitator of those who ( one ) through faith, ( two ) and patience, that is, patience in doing the will of God ( Hebrews 10: 36 ); ( three ) inherit the promises. If you exercise your faith, it will be strengthened. Your moral faculties will be well-trained in distinguishing good and evil. You will make progress towards maturity. Then the foundation for the assurance of one’s Salvation or well-being with God is rooted in a Divine gift. God is the provider of Salvation in Jesus Christ ( John 3: 16 ) or Psalms 2: 12 ” and bow down to him; or else his anger will be quickly aroused, and you will suddenly die. Happy are all who go to him for protection. ”
