Have we recognize, we do have different & diverse talents? Do we believe our lives are God’s gift? What drives our relationship with one another? As stewards of the Word, do we know we are going to be accountable for those gifts? How diligent are we in the ” management ” of God-given talents? These are some of the few reflections that must be drowned from today’s Gospel.
A talent is something that you are instinctively born with that gives you unique skills and abilities. Talent set apart from knowledge in that it is not a learned behavior, although it can be strengthened and practiced. The Bible tells us in Ephesians 2: 10 ” God has made us what we are, and in union with Christ Jesus he has created us for a life of good deeds, which he has already prepared for us to do. “ When we discover our talents, we must be contended & praised God, furthermore, acknowledge that they were given to us for the sole cause of His Glory, must be used diligently for that reason.
The word ” accountability ” means to be held accountable, liable, answerable, or be held responsible for what a person has been given. This is a combination of several secular definitions of this word and it should get every believer attention for we will all be held accountable before the Lord someday for our actions, for what we did with what we have been given, and for what we didn’t do that we should have done.– Romans 14: 12 ” So then each of us shall give account to himself to God “. For Christians, they have been judged already since they repented and trusted in Christ and had the imputation of His righteousness credited to their account – 2 Corinthians 5: 21
Today’s Gospel from Saint Matthew 25: 14 – 30 ” the parable of the three servants ” tells about how to live. Each of us has been given a personal life. Each of us has been given gifts, talents and capacities. What do we do with them? Are we truly living? ( Let emulate the example of the virtuous woman revealed in the Book of Proverbs 31: 10 – 31/ ” A wife of noble character ” posted on the 14th October 2017: in the category of Seed Gospel ) Do we uses our lives for others? – Hebrews 6: 10 ” God is not unjust; He will forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them. ” Do we seek to be faithful to what the Lord asks of us? – 1 Kings 2: 3 – 4 ” and do what the Lord your God orders you to do. Obey all his laws and commands, as written in the Law of Moses, so that wherever you go you may prosper in everything you do. If you obey him, the Lord will keep the promise he made when he told me that my descendants would rule Israel as long as they were careful to obey his commands faithfully with all their heart and soul. “
