“ I have loved you even as the Father has loved me. Remain in my love. ” John 15: 9. Do we love God and are eager to do what he commands? Today’s Gospel is another ” wake-up call ” revealed in the Book of Matthew 22: 34 – 40. Jesus Christ, the essence of love, is urging us to love God ( our Father ), and to love one another, as an expression of the overflow of God’s love. Jesus is crystal clear that this requisite from His followers is a full part for those who belong to the new covenant; He is our Savior & Lord, the Owner of our life. However, the new covenant with Jesus, had secured the promises of the old covenant, added the gifts of the new. It is our baptism into Christ that makes us members of this covenant.
Saint Paul reminds us that we must always give a good example of how to live our Christian’s faith, as one in Christ. When we live with joy and gladness the new covenant; others are drawn to come to know the Lord: Salvation is sprayed! Furthermore, this Sunday’s call is very clear: To live is to strive to love. If we want to be faithful to the God who created us, then we must love all others – 1 John 4: 8 ” Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. ” This is how Saint Paul perceived the practicality of God’s love “ this is how we know what love is: Jesus laid down His life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? Dear children, let us not love with words, or speeches, but with actions and in truth. ” – 1 John 3: 16-18.
We know that in the established practice, it is easy to love those who love us. Jesus calls us to love everyone and that proof of that love is the special love that we must have for our enemies, those who try to destroy us, or our neighbors. – ” But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great and you will be children of the Most High, because He is kind & compassionate to the ungrateful and wicked by the reason of their blind foolishness.
“…I told you these things so that you will be filled with Joy. Yes, your joy will overflow! ” – John 15: 11. My father taught me, ” Take my words to heart. Follow my commands, and you will live. Get wisdom; develop good judgment. Don’t forget my words or turn away from them – Proverbs 4: 4 – 5. “
