Our weekly delight ( joy & pleasure ) in reading comes from the Book of Zechariah 3: 1-7 ” Then he showed me Joshua the High priest standing before the angel of the Lord, and Satan standing at his right side to accuse him.” The Lord said to Satan, “ the Lord rebuke you, Satan. The Lord was has chosen Jerusalem, rebuke you! Is not this man a burning stick snatched from the fire? “
Now Joshua was dressed in filthy clothes as he stood before the angel. The angel said to those who were standing before him, ” take off his filthy clothes. ”
Then he said to Joshua ” See, I have taken away your sin, and I will put the garments on you. “
Then I said, ” Put a clean turban on his head “. So they put a clean turban on his head and clothed him, while the angel of the Lord stood by.
The angel of the Lord gave this charge to Joshua: “ this is what the Lord Almighty says: if you will walk in obedience to me and keep my requirements, then you will govern my house and have charge of my courts, and I will give you a place among these standing here. “
Please! Please continued to read the Bible: this is Life!!!
Zechariah ( prophet ) worked side by side with Haggai ( prophet ) to quicken the religious life of the people, and thus, to remove the gravest hindrances to work of rebuilding the temple. Inward indifference, not outward opposition, is the real reason for slow progress in God’s work, and prophets who see visions and preach repentance are the true practical men ( embody of prophecy). The vision followed Haggai’s prophecy at the interval of a month. It falls into two parts: – A symbolical vision and the reminder of the vision is the address of the angel of the Lord to Joshua, developing the blessings ( fullness of the Spirit of the Messiah coming ) now made sure to him and his people by the renewed consecration and cleansing.
Joshua 1: 8 ” Be sure that the Book of the law is always read in your worship. Study it day and night, and make sure that you obey everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. “
Cleanse our hearts from all impurity, and strengthen and renewed us for all usefulness through your Word; in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen!
