S G: the Lord’s response to Solomon.

Our weekly delight ( joy & pleasure ) in Reading comes from the Book of 2 Chronicles 7: 11 – 18.

” Thus Solomon finished Yahweh’s house, and the King’s house: and he successfully completed all that came into Solomon’s heart to make in Yahweh’s house, and in his own house.

Yahweh appeared to Solomon by night, and said to him, I have heard your prayer, and have chosen this place for myself for a house of sacrifice.

If I shut up the sky so that there no rain, or if I command the locust to devour the land, or if I sent pestilence among my people;

if my people, who are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Now my eyes shall be open, and my ears attentive, to the prayer that is made in this place.

For now have I chosen and made this house holy, that my name may be there forever; and my eyes and my heart shall be there perpetually.

As for you, if you will walk before me as David your father walked, and do according to all that I have commanded you, and will keep my statutes and my ordinances;

then I will establish the throne of your Kingdom, according as I covenanted with David your father, saying, There shall not fail you a man to be ruler in Israel. “

Please! Please continued reading the Bible! This is Life!!!

Let us help ourselves with something to take away from this paragraph. God’s answer to Solomon’s prayer. The mercies of God to sinners are made known in a manner well suited to impress all who receive them with his majesty and holiness. Solomon prosperously effected all he designed for adoring both, God’s house and his own. Those who begin with the service of God, are likely to go successfully in their own affairs. It was Solomon’s praise that what he undertook, he went through with; it was by the grace of God that he prospered in it. Let us stand in Awe, and sin not.

Joshua 1: 8 ” This Book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate therein day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall have good success. “

You cannot meditate on the word without first READING IT, and here it mentions that the ” book of the law shall not depart out of the mouth ” which indicates that it should be verbally SPOKEN. The effect of meditating on the word of God and speaking it is so that we may ” observe to do according to all that is written therein ” and that will make it possible to ” make ( our ) way prosperous, and then ( we ) shall have good success.” The prosperity that this is talking about isn’t financial prosperity necessarily, but has in mind the life of the person who first reads it, then observes it, and finally to know that what is written in it shows us how we can prosper and be successful, but not by worldly standards, but according to God’s standard ( endless blessings out of His Divine mercy ).
