Sustainable development: what that means for God?

The World Leaders are taking part to the ongoing United Nations Assembly in New-York (U.S), with the sole aim of bringing into reality the concept of ” sustainable development  “. Is the organizing principle for meeting Human development goals while at the same time sustaining the ability of natural systems to provide the natural resources and ecosystem services upon which the economy and society depend.

The Bible comments on Mankind’s desire for money, and wealth, King Solomon, a man to whom God gave great Wisdom; he wrote most of the Proverbs. King Solomon had everything a human being could wish for, yet he gave this Warning Do not toil to acquire wealth, be wise enough to desist when your eyes light upon it, it is gone, for suddenly it takes to itself wings, flying like an eagle toward heaven. ” Proverbs 23: 4 – 5.

Do the world leaders know this doctrine? If no! what are they sinking the World into a day light dream. furthermore, have they rested one moment and reflect into the wisdom of Ecclesiastes 2: 10 – 11 ” Whatever my eyes desired, I didn’t keep from them. I didn’t withhold my heart from any joy, for my heart rejoiced because of all my labor, and this was my portion from all my labor. Then I looked at all the works that my hands had worked, and at the labor that I had labored to do; and behold, all was VANITY and a CHASING after WIND, and there was no profit under the sun. ” In simple terms, all the possessions and pleasure they are engulfing AGAINST THE WELFARE of Man, themselves amounted to NOTHING – because they produced nothing of lasting value!

Jesus Christ then shared a great key to true success, in contrast to the vanity of rulers lording over others. “ Whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant. The greatest is the one who is a true servant – the one truly cares for and helps others.Jesus example of Leadership was one of service, sacrifice and love. Romans 5: 8 ” But God commends his own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. “

Whatever position we may hold in this life, we will never find true success unless we have an attitude of Godly Service toward others.

True success depends on thegive principle “. Can we find success through the pursuit of power; fame; knowledge? Certainly God want us to use our mind to learn godly values available in His word – But unless we practice genuine humility, material & world fabulous knowledge may lead to intellectual vanity1Corinthians 8: 1 ” Now concerning things sacrificed to idols: We know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up. The wisdom of this world is foolishness with God.

After all King Solomon’s experimentation, he came to a final conclusion This is the end of the matter. All has been heard. Fear God, and keep his commandments; for this is the whole duty of man. ” Ecclesiastes 12: 13. For the world leaders flattering themselves with an empty agenda ” sustainable developmentBut seek first God’s Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well. ” Matthew 6: 33.
