Our weekly delight ( joy and pleasure ) in Reading comes from the Book of Isaiah 58: 6 – 12.
” Isn’t this the fast that I have chosen: to release the bonds of wickedness, to undo the straps of the yoke, to let the oppressed go free, and that you break every yoke?
Isn’t it to distribute your bread to the hungry, and that you bring the poor who are cast out your house? When you see the naked, that you cover him; and that you not hide yourself from your own flesh?
Then you will call, and Yahweh will answer; you will cry for help, and he will say, Here I am. If you take away from among you the yoke, finger pointing, and speaking wickedly;
and if you pour out your soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul: then your light will rise in darkness, and your obscurity will be as the noonday;
and Yahweh will guide you continually, and satisfy your soul in dry places, and make your bones strong; and you shall be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters don’t fail.
Those who shall be of you shall build the old waste places; you shall raise up the foundations of many generations; and you shall be called Repairer of the Breach, Restorer of Paths with Dwellings. “
Please! Please continued reading the Bible, this is Life!!! The Bible was given to us by God to be read and meditate on. However, “ an unread Bible is like food that is refused, an unopened love letter, a buried sword, a road map not studied, a gold mine not worked. “
Joshua 1: 8 ” This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate therein day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall have good success. “
You cannot meditate on the Word without FIRST READING IT, and here it mentions that ” the book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth “, which indicates that it should be VERBALLY SPOKEN. The effect of meditating on the word of God, and speaking it is so that we may “ observe to do according to all that is written therein “, and that will make it possible to ” make ( our ) way prosperous, and then ( we ) shall have good success. ” The Prosperity that this is talking about isn’t financial prosperity necessarily, but has in mind the life of the person who first reads it, then observes it, and finally to know that what is written in it, shows us how WE CAN PROSPER AND BE SUCCESSFUL, but not by worldly standards, but according to GOD’S STANDARD ( endless blessings out of His Divine mercy ).
