Timely Gospel: Christ Jesus preeminence.

The design of the Gospel is not merely to gives “ rules “, but mainly to supply “ motives to Holiness ( blessedness ). ” The revelation  from the Book of Colossians 3: 1 – 4, is about the resurrection of our Lord Jesus ” If then you were raised together with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated on the right hand of God. “; the connection of the followers with the landmark of our faith, ” Set your mind on the things that are above, not on the things that are on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. “; and the hopes & prospects highlighted by the resurrection as basic ethical values for the faith ( guidance ) of followers towards salvation “ When Christ, our life, is revealed, then you will also be revealed with him in Glory.

Furthermore, the Apostle Paul calls on followers to lift their vision, to look beyond the complications and messiness ( disorganization ) of daily life, and to find direction for ” living  from above “. It is not for sure a “ one-time-only ” decision, but a resolution that needs to be made ” over and over again “.

And how can believers do that? They can do so by remembering the PREEMINENCE ( dominance ) of Christ.

Hebrews 1: 1 – 4 ” God, having in the past spoken to the fathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, has at the end of these days spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, through whom also he made the worlds. His Son is the radiance of his glory, the very image of his substance, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purified us of our sins, sat down on the right hand of the majesty on high;…….has inherited a more excellent name than they have. ”

the power of the gospel

The preeminence of Christ is first of all about who He is – The Son of God before the worlds were made. It is also about who He will be always for all ages to come.

It is about what He imparts as the regent ( instruction ) of God. He is the one to whom God has submitted all heaven and earth; the one who has all authority in heaven and earth, who is not only the Lord of the nations, but the Head of the Church.

Finally, the supremacy of Christ is where He leads in the purposes of God, as He leads His Church into the fullness of the stature of Himself; as He leads the missionary cause among the nations, as He leads all of history into its last and final consummation when He comes as Lord of lords, and Kings of kings in all of His resplendent ( bright ) glory.
