Sunday’s call: Jesus Christ our Savior & Church.

From Peter’s Declaration about Jesus in Matthew 16: 13-20; Jesus asked two (2) questions to test the understanding of his followers about His identity in order to prepare them to His ministry of Salvation. “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?…Who do you say I am? ” Therefore, the profession of FAITH of Peter ( as a spoke person of the disciples) as a gift of God through the power of the Holy Spirit “ You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God “; prompted Jesus to acknowledge the spirit of discernment, and to release above all the prophecies related to His ” Kingdom ” “Now I say to you that you are Peter ( which means rock), and upon this rock I will build my church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer it. And I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven. Whatever you forbid on earth will be forbidden in heaven, and whatever you permit on earth will be permitted in heaven.”

never aloneHowever, Christ declared that he was going to build His Church on the Apostles; they would proclaim the message of Christ, record it in the scriptures, and establish the Church throughout the known world.

Furthermore, Christ gave to Apostles and to all disciples, the privilege of proclaiming the Gospel to the world, and by that proclamation binding and loosing what was already bound and loosed in heaven.

This Sunday, was an opportunity for us to rehearse about who is a Christian? To be  a Christian means believing that Jesus is the Christ ( the Savior we have been waiting for centuries, the one anointed and sent by God to reconcile us to him, as our Father ), the Son of the living God ( not any handmade human deity ), and by His work, the work of redemption. If we believe, we have to give our all to Jesus, as members of one family ” the Body of Christ ” – Our Church.
