Since the disciples have a clear understanding of the mysteries of the kingdom of God and they willing to teach them to others. Christ draws their attention to a diligent exercise of their gifts and to a large, free, and cheerful communication of their knowledge to others – Matthew 13: 52 ” He said to them, therefore every scribe who has been made a disciple in the Kingdom of Heaven is like a man who is a householder, who brings out of his treasure new and old things. “ This commission was assigned first to the community of baptized – 1 Peter 2: 9 ” But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, that you may proclaim the excellence of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. “, and secondary, to skillful, faithful ministers of the Gospel ( a Scribe) definitely, not to religious & academic leaders – Matthew 22: 34. Accordingly, each of the categories it assumed to understand the nature of the Gospel, the discipline involve, the laws & rules of Christ’s house such as one.
Therefore, as a householder or family under his care, as the ministers of the Gospel have, and which is the Church of God. Christ is properly in this House of faith the ” Householder” and “Master”, but Gospel ministers are deputies and stewards under him, and under him preside over the household, and have the government of it, provide food for it, and protect and defend it, all which require extensive gifts and abilities, great love and affection, both to Christ and his people; much wisdom, prudence, and knowledge and great faithfulness and integrity, courage and firmness of mind. The vivid illustration is the authority of Joseph’s household in Egypt as revealed in Psalm 105: 21-22.
Nowadays, all children of men are busy taking care of the interests of the world, and considered their counterfeits ( deceitful, false ) activism for valuable pearls. Jesus Christ is a pearl of a perfect great price; in having him, we have enough to make us happy here and for ever – Matthew 13: 45 ” Again, the Kingdom of Heaven is like a man who is a merchant seeking fine pearls, “. Perhaps, a man may buy gold too dear, but not this pearl of great price. When the convinced sinner sees Christ as the gracious Savior, all things else become worthless to his thoughts. The world is like a vast sea full of men as their natural state; preaching the Gospel is casting a net into this sea, to catch something out of it, for His Glory who has the sovereignty of the sea. Psalm 24: 1 ” The earth is Yahweh’s, with its fullness; the world, and those who dwell therein. “
The word ” treasure ” in this context expresses one reality into two: Christ himself who is the store house of grace and truth , and the Gospel which is put into our heart, and become that stock of Gospel knowledge and experience by which believers ( or men of God ) are thoroughly furnished for every good work – Romans 11: 33-36. This is the duty of every baptized believer that is familiar with the gospel or with the truth that they bring it out at any occasions and anywhere, to comfort the feeble, to enlighten the ignorant, and to recover and guide those who are in danger of staying away.
