The Old Testament is particularly designed of God to make the great truths of the New Testament come alive for us. We need this to happen in our Christian experience. So many of these truths are simply academic knowledge as far as we are concerned, until they come alive when we see them interpreted in the dramatic presentations of the Old Testament. This is especially true of the first five or six books of the Old Testament, for here God lays out the foundation ORDER of his working in human life. His pattern will be exactly the same in our life as it was in the lives of Adam, Abraham, Moses, David and all of the others Biblical characters. It will follow the arrangement that is developed for us in Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy, and Joshua. In these books we will see how God moves in our lives, even now.
How do we see the hand of God moves in our lives?
We can see God’s hand moving in our lives when the Spirit of God opens our heart and minds to the truth of His word – Luke 24: 45 ” Then he opened their minds, that they might understand the Scriptures. “ We can see God’s hand in His providential blessings, including the deep waters of sorrow and the fiery trials of affliction – Deuteronomy 28: 8 ” Yahweh will command the blessing on you in your barns and in all that you put your hand to. He will bless you in the land which Yahweh your God gives you “. Ultimately, we can see God’s hand moving most clearly when we see His Son, Jesus Christ, who has been revealed to those who love God – John 1:14 ” The Word became flesh, and lived among us…”. For it is Jesus Christ who is the radiance of the glory of God, and the exact imprint of His nature – Hebrews 1: 1-2 ” God, having in the past spoken to the fathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, has at the end of these days spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, through whom also he made the worlds.”
