Casting down rebellious thoughts.

hw4As the rhythm of posting  is increasing, the unusual embarrassing feeling of doubt embrace the ” nations “. Can this continuous exposure to the Gospel be ” real “, because it looks so good! Let me gently say, the first effect of any real contact with Christ and his Gospel is to reveal a Man to himself, to shatter ( to violently break something into pieces ) is delusive ( inappropriate to reality ) estimates of what he is and to pull down about his ears the lofty ( high or tall ) fortress in which he has ensconced ( to place in secure environment ) himself. Romans 12: 2 ” Don’t be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God. “

It seems strange work for what call itself a Gospel to begin by forcing a Man to cry out with sobs (a cry with a short, sudden expulsion of breath ) and tears. Oh wretched ( very miserable ) man who I am! But no man will ever reach the heights to which Christ can lift him, who does not begin his upward course by descending to the depths into which Christ’s Gospel begins its work by plunging him.Matthew 26: 75 ” An Peter remember the word which Jesus had said ” Before a rooster crows you will deny me three times“: And he went out and wept bitterly. “

Unconsciousness of sin is sure to God to indifference to a Savior, and unless we know ourselves to be miserable and poor and blind, and naked, the offer of gold refined by fire, and white garments that we may clothe ourselves will make no appeal to us;  the fact of sin makes the need for a Savior; our individual sense of sin makes us sensible of our need of a Savior. 1 Peter 2: 22 “Who committed no sin, nor was any deceit found in his mouth. “
