To” lie “ is to make a believed – false “assertion” (positive statement or declaration, often without support or reason) to another person with the intention that the other believe that statement to be true. Nowadays, there are various specific kinds of lies & deceits (outright falsehoods; false promises; flattery; false doctrine; hypocrisy; half-truths; self-deception). These world concepts are caused by selfishness or personal gain; cover-up; pride and envy; misguided loves or kindness; habit. Obviously, lying and deceit have countless consequences in men’s relationships ( lying harms other people; influences others to sin; leads to lost of respect and confidence; alienates from God and condemns eternally). The aim of this posting is to incline the process of how to overcome lying and deceit in a Christian’s worldview?
For Jesus Christ, the Son of the Most high God, our Father “ABBAS”, our Lord, to practice deceit, falsehood and treachery either by word or by action. It is the exact opposite of the “TRUTH”– John 14: 6 “Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. “ .The sanctity of truth is fundamental in Biblical teaching since it is based on the nature and character of God – Numbers 23: 29 ” God is not a man that he should lie, nor the son of man, that he should repent. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not make it good? “. Another cross-reference verse Hebrews 6:18. Therefore, to despise truth is to despise God.
For Christians to respond to these challenges we must hear afresh the words of Jesus from what is called the ” great commandment” – Matthew 22: 36-40 “…You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind…” Here are we told not only to love God wholeheartedly with our hearts and souls, but with our minds as well. Jesus words refer to a unreserved devotion to God with every aspect of our being from whatever angle we choose to consider it (emotionally; volitional (a conscious choice or decision), or cognitively (relating to the part of mental functions that deals with logic).
This kind of love for GOD results in taking every thought captive to make it obedient to Christ – 2 Corinthians 10: 5 ” throwing down imaginations and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God, and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.” , a genuine devotion to distinctively Christian thinking. This means being able to see life from a Christian vantage ( advantage or superiority) point; it means thinking with the mind of Jesus Christ.
