According to researchers, terrorist attack is a surprise attack calculated involving the deliberate use of indescribable violence against soft targets in the hope of attaining undisclosed aims. Nowadays, ideology and motivation to live the “hobbies” values will influence the objectives of the terrorist operations, especially regarding the casualty rate. In contrast, religiously oriented and millenarian groups typically attempt to inflict as many casualties as possible, because of apocalyptic frame of reference they use. How can a common human being understands this kind of violence?
From my own standpoint, it is our SEPARATION from God’s Spirit, 1 Corinthians 15:45 “… the first man, Adam, became a living soul (Genesis 2:7). The last Adam (Jesus Christ) became a life-giving spirit” As referred to Psalm 24: 1, God is the owner of the earth with its fullness, that means with everything who dwell therein. Furthermore, God is love, 1 John 4: 8 ” anyone who does not LOVE does not know God, for God is love. “ This separation from our GOD, the creator (or our deeper selves, or who we are, or what is our nature?) have induced the false belief that, HATE seems more powerful than love, and WAR seems more effective than COMPASSION & UNDERSTANDING. What is the way forward from the “trauma” of the GENERAL indiscriminate violence?
The restoration of our relationship with God as quoted in Hosea 6: 6 ” for I desire mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offering. “ A call for repentance, the return of the prodigal son to the Father in order to experience Love (Agape). Christian love means, affection; benevolence; good-will; high esteem; and concern for the welfare of the one loved. It is deliberate, purposeful love, charity rather than emotional or impulsive love. Love is the essence of all commandments Romans 13: 8-10 “…Owe no one anything, except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law…” We realize that “Justice” derived from love; then God’s justice means bringing healing not condemnation, inclusion not exclusion, forgiveness not punishment. The world justice finds its sources (terrorism’s allegation) not in the message of Jesus, but in the common sense of power struggles, coercicion and necessary violence and punishment. God’s commitment to love allows for human rejection, and the rejection may lead to alienation. Alienation leads to “blind foolish” violence. Violence multiplied exponentially the rate of injustice and human wickedness is exposed.
The world as portrayed in the television become a lifeless place to be. God actively witnesses to the need to turn from alienation and to turn back toward God’s mercy Matthew 10: 28 “don’t be afraid of those who kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul. Rather, fear him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. “God as seen in Jesus is “Holy” not in the sense of being unable to be in the presence of sin and evil, but in the sense of willingly entering directly into the reality of sin and evil with the message of Compassion.
Let the world trust Jesus Christ (Prince of Peace) now and not in reaction of terrorist attack 2 Peter 1: 3 – 4.
