Digital Economy refers to an economy that is based on digital computing technologies. The Digital Economy is also sometimes called the Internet Economy, the New Economy or Web Economy. That economy is interrelated with the traditional one, making a clear delineation harder. For example:
-Physical economy: New product marketing, press releases, paper advertising.
–Digital economy: Web page for product, online video of product, online advertising, social media marketing.
–Advantage: Digital economy provides new tools to help physical marketing.
–Disadvantages: The concept of digital refers to the fact that there is a discrepancy among the population in opportunities to benefit from the Internet potential. The digital revolution also led to the emergence of copy right infringement and trademark issues. Information sharing and privacy has become a general concern.
The question is do the adoption of this latest fashionable concept of supporting traditional business will bring “SATISFACTION” for all the stakeholders? In the spiritual reign would the Man will never be satisfied with what we have? The answer is NO, if we are gripped in the vise of Greed and its twin sister, Materialism. Matthew 6:33 ” but seek first God’s Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well. “Is it possible to be a believer and a materialist at the same time? Yes, most definitely, but it’s not possible to be a committed, growing believer with divided priorities. ” …but as for me and my house, we will serve Yahweh. ” Joshua 24:15. Money is God’s great rival for our heart. The love of money and things it can buy makes us ” Greedy for more”, no matter how much we have. Have you noticed that we’re talking about a love affair with money? LOVE OF MONEY will impede our growth to maturity because it keeps us from loving God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength.” for the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some have been led astray from the faith in their greed, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows.”1 Timothy 6:10. However, greed results in displacing the “ONE” who has the right to be“KING” on the throne of our lives, is absolutely making less attractive the introduction of Digital Economy ( new idolatry) as an open window for more opportunities to better the well-being and satisfaction for the people.
Many Christians are just like the people of the world in not availing themselves of the unlimited promises of God. Psalm 67:7 ” God will bless us; all the ends of the earth shall fear him.” They may put them on a plaque on the wall, but practically they never actually recall God’s promises in their daily lives “…God has granted to us everything we need for life and godliness through knowing Christ Jesus and trusting in his all-sufficient promises.” 2 Peter 1: 3 – 4.
